If you don’t have a mobile website for your business yet you should make that a priority.  The use of mobile devices has increased tremendously in the last couple years.  For example as I write this Facebook reports that there are over 250 million active mobile users accessing Facebook.  Of the Facebook users the ones accessing through mobile devices are twice as active as non-mobile users.

Currently in the USA and Europe over 90% of mobile subscribers have internet ready phones.  Between July 2009 and July 2010 Amazon had sold more than $1 billion in products from mobile devices.  The mobile industry is growing at a much faster rate than the PC industry did 20 years ago.

If someone where to access your website on a mobile device how would it look?  You should look at your site and see exactly how it looks and performs on a mobile phone, such as an Android phone, iPhone or Blackberry.  Then maybe check it on a non-smart phone with internet access.  Then decided if it provides the user experience you want your customers or potential customers to have.

Websites designed for PCs generally do not look good on those tiny screens.  To have a website look nice on a mobile site it needs to be designed for a mobile devices.  The width of the screen, number of images, size of images, amount of information, initial information displayed all have to be considered when putting together your mobile site.

Below you will see two images of a businesses websites; one is a regular website on a mobile device and the other is a website designed for mobile devices.  The regular site you would have to scroll from left to right to use the navigation and if you want to read it you would need to scroll from left to right as you read.  The mobile website fits the mobile screen and has minimal graphics.  The important information is right on the front page, business address and phone number with a click to call option.

Often times people look for a business or product and service when they are on the go, so you need to consider how mobile friendly your website it.  If you are dealing with someone in a hurry they may click your site and see it isn’t mobile ready and then just click the back button and move on to your competitions website.  I lookup businesses in the Milwaukee and Waukesha areas frequently on my Android phone and I much prefer navigating the mobile websites to the regular websites.  If a potential customers find your website frustrating to navigate the chances are they will never become a customer.

Doing SEO is more difficult in the bigger cities and towns than it is in the smaller ones. For example, getting a top Google listing for a local business located in Waukesha Wisconsin will be much easier than getting to the top of the first page for a local business in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Because of this fact it is important to understand that your costs should be less also.

Some companies may charge the same amount regardless of whether it is a small community or not. We do not, we will get you ranking for many search terms in Waukesha for a very reasonable fee.
